David Jewell, a 50 year old Australian, living in Villars, Switzerland, was kite surfing in New Caledonia when the incident occurred. David was bitten in his right thigh. Despite the immediate rescue efforts, David wnt into cardica arrest and died on his way to the hospital. The species involved is unknown.
